A number of my subscribers have been around since the very beginning of EMTALA, and many of those folks remember notes about my kids. Some even met my son and daughter. Well, for those of you who fall into this group, I just wanted to issue an update on my daughter that might make you feel of little aged. It sure does for me.
That little 3 year old than many of you met at our Florida conference (which seems like yesterday) will be graduating in three weeks with her Pharm.D. and is currently applying for residencies/jobs at hospitals in the Midwest. Not sure where she will end up, but with both my birthday and my wife’s birthday surrounding graduation, we are hoping that our birthday presents will be that Drake University will finally be off of our budget. A great school, not criticizing, but I wish that they had been deductible for tax purposes. It is even more appealing for my wife, since she is a Drake alum, so this has been her second time around for financial support to the school.
I am thankful that my little girl is graduating, but I am also thankful that there are friends and colleagues who have been subscribers for longer than my daughter has been around. Just wanted to share with you.

Wow! I cannot believe she is graduating! I have been a follower of yours since 1997’ish and this was nowhere in your thoughts back then!
It seems I know my children have grown up ,,,and you are right,, makes me feel older when I realize other folks children have too. Congrats to all!

Great news!! It is so hard to think that she is now out of school and a PharmD to boot!! I don’t know how she accomplished that as I have been around since she was very young, not yet in kindergarten, and I have not aged enough for that to occur. Wishing her the best in her new career, and we always have openings for pharmacists in my rural eastern KY location and provider service territory! Would be fortunate to have her! Best wishes…. judy
Steve, Congratulations Mom & Dad. What a worthy profession for your daughter and good luck with finding that perfect residency for “all of you”. You should be proud. I’ve heard you speak Steve over several years, and have your books; I have great respect for your knowledge and guidance over the years. I worked for Ministry for 42 years, thought I was retired and ultimately Aspirus Wausau Hospital found me 5 years ago. I’ve now been interim Risk Manager twice and currently Interim Patient Advocate. I will wind down again soon from this position and possibly continues to do some project work occasionally. Unlike my other Healthcare retired friends, they think I’m a little weird not wanting to give up working entirely. Good luck to your daughter.

Congratulations to both the PharmD and the parents! My daughter received her PharmD last year at University of Washington and did a Residency at the Reno VA. It is a great field with lots of opportunities. Best wishes!

I think that’s why genres like Star Trek are so popular. we look at these kids and watch them grow, but somewhere there must be some kind of time warp. suddenly we’re asking ourselves “Where did all the time go”? And suddenly, here we are.
